Candidate Information

Katia Zakharof

For Issaquah City Council, Position 6

Katia Zakharoff runs a small business and serves on Issaquah’s Planning Policy Commission, where she works directly on the issues that come with growth: permitting delays, traffic, and protecting trees. She wants to make city processes more efficient, expand housing options carefully, and plan ahead for light rail and other changes that are coming.

Her endorsements from the Eastside Business Alliance, local firefighters, and King County and 5th LD Democrats show she’s earning trust across business, public safety, and civic groups. Katia focuses on practical steps that keep Issaquah livable while it continues to grow.

Kelly Jiang

For Issaquah City Council, Position 1

Kelly was appointed to the council in 2025 and has been working on what Issaquah actually needs: more housing, better transit planning, and protecting open space without blowing the budget. Her background is in energy efficiency and business consulting, which shows up in how she approaches city finances. She’s earned support from groups like the Sierra Club and the Eastside Business Alliance, different interests that don’t always align. When they agree on a candidate, it suggests someone who can build consensus.

Mark Mullet

For Mayor of Issaquah

Mark Mullet has a long record of solving problems for Issaquah. He started on the City Council and went on to serve more than ten years in the State Senate, where he chaired the state construction budget and delivered funding for schools, parks, and transportation projects that matter locally. His work helped widen SR 18, complete the I-90 interchange, and secure long-term investments that continue to support Issaquah’s growth.

Mark takes a practical approach to government. He’s worked for property tax relief and expanded access to higher education, focusing on results over headlines. His experience at both the city and state level gives Issaquah a mayor who knows how to get resources, balance budgets, and keep the city moving forward responsibly.
